Renaissance Curacao Resort Aqua Spa: A Luxury Spa Experience

For all the ladies out there who need to find a cure for chipped nail polish or dull-looking skin, the Renaissance Resort Aqua Spa located in the Rif Fort offers a tranquil environment where luxury and relaxation are top priority. There’s a little something for men as well but be prepared for all the special treatment you receive because it will make you want to go back again and again. I’ve even got my husband and some of his friends hooked.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that it only caters to hotel guests or tourists due to its location because you will definitely miss out on this spa experience. Interestingly, what some locals may not realize at first is that the Aqua Spa has very special pricing for them which makes the experience a whole lot appealing, not to mention affordable. The locals can use all of the amenities at a fraction of what it costs tourists to do so.
Now you’re probably wondering what is so great about the pricing, so I will spill it– the prices are listed in US dollars but for locals the dollars become guilders so the savings are almost half of what it costs tourists. It’s especially a good deal because you get the same service and treatment as offered to tourists and guests. You can pick up a brochure and a list of treatments and prices from the spa before you make your appointment. There is also a brochure online at www.aquaspacuracao.com but it does not list prices.
Depending on where you enter the spa make sure you walk over to the main desk to give notice of your arrival. At the Aqua Spa your experience begins by being welcomed with a drink of your choice, personally I recommend the mimosa, and a little snack of fruits and nuts. Even throughout your treatment you will be asked multiple times if you would like another drink. Regardless of what treatment you choose, you will be escorted into a change room with luxury shower facilities and provided a locker equipped with robe and slippers. Once you are ready, you will be greeted in the lounge by your therapist and get to indulge in the treatment you have chosen.
My favourite treatments are the deep tissue massage, ladies haircut with style, rebalancing facial and deluxe manicure/pedicure with massage chair. If you go a little early for your pedicure you may even get a free Balinese foot scrub. The therapists are all wonderful and very friendly and they will kindly cater to your needs and preferences. The spa director, Emile, is always at your service. If you want to re-book with them you will receive a 10% discount on your treatment. You can always ask to you use the same therapist or try someone else. Even if you are not sure of the re-booking date you can always change it later so this way you will still receive the discount.
The best part of this spa experience is that after your treatment, whatever it is, you can just hang around and use the amenities such as the lounge area with food and lemon water provided, sauna with rain shower, and patio with a view of the sea. If you buy two or more treatments you get to use the hotel beach and pool for the rest of the day. This makes a great gift idea too. For Mother’s Day my mom and I made a day out of it and used the pool and beach in between treatments.
When you feel like you need a little R & R in your life, aside from what island life can offer, try the Aqua Spa for a total spa experience. You will be immersed in comfort and luxury the second you enter the room.

@Edcynda and to all other spa goers out there: The Aqua Spa has closed temporarily and has been sold to a new owner. It will probably open soon under a different management. It was just not working out with the previous owner and the Renaissance Hotel therefore a sudden closure of the spa occurred. It is unfortunate but there are always other alternatives that can be explored in the meantime such as the new Body Care Caribbean Spa and Soul Spa. There is also a new spa in Salina Galleries, not sure of the name. Check them out!
