Ben ik het niet mee eens. Kinderen zien Sinterklaas als een feest, niets meer en niets minder. Er zijn genoeg kinderen die niets krijgen, ook geen straf.

And I think you concur with that notion; for you blame the parents to impress these racist ideas upon the children.

And that’s exactly the point. You’re the parent now, David. You got to stop defending teaching kids racism associated this Sinterklaasfest.

Either way, I’m sorry you had a, what sounds to me to be, very unpleasant experience with a number of children Ace. While I don’t condone their behavior,I will chalk it up to sample size. A bunch of “rotten apples” should not make us generalize and say that children are not innocent. Yeah, some kids suck and you’ll want to punch them in the face, but a child in general is pretty innocent and will usually see the world differently than you and me.

You and I see Black vs White. We see the white man “owning” a black worker. We see the ball and chain. Kids, in general, see candy and presents. They see a silly guy in face paint and an old man who is going to bring them goodies.

If some kids treated me like they treated you, I’d look to their parents first, before I say that children are not innocent. At the end of the day, a child will behave according to its education..according to the morals and ethics which are passed on by the parents. If they treated you with racism, it’s because their parents need to be kicked in the genitals for doing a shitty job…not because some guy on a horse promises them presents if they behave well.

Yes, except around Zinterklaas. Then they started to dive away in panic, but never mind, these where probably the non-innocent children anyway. And I can assure you, I didn’t wear golden earrings, lipstick, or funny and colorful clothes.

Still these innocent kids saw it right away: dark skinned person = zwarte piet.

Of course YOU don’t have that experience, eh David, and now ask your self why you don’t have that experience, and give a honest freaking answer why you never experienced a bunch of white kids scared of you around 5 December.

The answer was good enough for me. It meant that I was assured of getting presents and that’s all I needed to know!
